Basic Information about Female External Genital Organs

Clitoris

The clitoris is a crucial part of the female external genital organs. A small portion of this organ is located at the top of the vulva and plays a key role in female orgasm. The clitoris contains a large number of nerve endings, making it an extremely sensitive area. Stimulation of the clitoris can lead to intense sexual experiences and clitoral orgasms. It is important to understand how sensitive the clitoris is and how it can be properly stimulated to achieve maximum pleasure.

Labia Minora (Small Labia)

These are skin folds located on either side of the vaginal opening. They are situated medially between the labia majora (large labia). The size and colour of the labia minora vary greatly among women, making each set unique and individual. There’s no need to feel embarrassed about them, regardless of their appearance. I, too, struggled with accepting mine for a while, but eventually realized that they are beautiful and appealing to both myself and my sexual partners.

Labia Majora (Large Labia)

The labia majora are skin folds that run on either side of the vulvar slit and are separated from the thighs by a groove. They extend from the mons pubis down to the perineum, surrounding the labia minora. Their size is determined by the amount of fatty tissue and thus varies for each woman.

Vulval Vestibule

The vestibule of the vagina is another important part of the vulva. It is located between the labia minora, beneath the vaginal opening. This area contains the openings of both the urethra and the vagina. It also houses the ducts of the Skene's glands and Bartholin's glands. The vestibule is rich in nerve endings and is sensitive to touch. It is essentially a smooth patch of skin between the labia minora.

Vaginal Opening

The vaginal opening is another component of the vulva, situated at the rear of the vaginal vestibule. It is typically covered by the labia minora, except during activities such as sexual intercourse or childbirth. The vaginal opening lies behind the urethral opening and serves as the entrance to the vulva. Proper care of the vaginal opening is essential for maintaining the health of female genital organs.

Mons Pubis

The mons pubis is a mound located above the vulva, which is also part of the female external genital organs. It consists of a fat pad and covers the pubic bone, which is why it is sometimes referred to as the pubic mound. This area can be sensitive to touch and pressure.

How to Care for Female External Genital Organs

It is important to take care of female external genital organs properly. This includes regular washing of the area with gentle soap and water, wearing loose and breathable underwear, and regular visits to the gynaecologist for preventive check-ups. Caring for female external genital organs is essential not only for maintaining hygiene but also for preventing infections and other health issues.

The importance of caring for female external genital organs increases during pregnancy. During pregnancy, it is crucial to take even greater care and attention to these organs. Regular gynaecological visits, a proper diet, and adequate rest are key to maintaining the health of both the mother and the unborn child. It is important to follow your doctor's recommendations and take care of your body to ensure it remains as healthy as possible.
