Basic Information about Male Internal Genital Organs

Testicles

The testicles are the producers of sperm. Located in the scrotum behind the penis, they produce the sperm necessary for reproduction. The testicles are also responsible for the production of testosterone, the primary male sex hormone.

The testicles therefore produce sperm and secrete male sex hormones. Each testicle is composed of hundreds of lobules and seminiferous tubules. These tubules eventually converge and lead to the epididymis, which stores the new sperm.

Epididymis

The epididymis is a male reproductive organ made up of elongated, coiled tubes. This organ lies behind the testicles, essentially on top of them.

Newly created sperm travel from the testicles to the epididymis, where they mature and gain the ability to fertilize an egg. The sperm are stored here until the moment of ejaculation, at which point they are released to fertilize an egg.

Vas Deferens

The vas deferens connects the testicles with the ejaculatory ducts. These thin tubes transport sperm from the testicles to the seminal vesicles and then to the ejaculatory ducts. The vas deferens is crucial for the proper functioning of the male reproductive system.

Known in Latin as the ductus deferentes, the vas deferens are tubes that play a key role in transporting sperm. During sexual activity, they carry the ejaculate from the epididymis to the urethra, where the life-giving mix is then expelled. Ejaculation is the process during which sperm travels through the vas deferens and is ejected due to penis stimulation. Ejaculation is often accompanied by orgasm but can also occur during sleep. An interesting fact that should be mentioned is that several scientific studies suggest that more frequent ejaculation may reduce the risk of prostate cancer. So, have sex, ejaculate, and stay healthy.

Ejaculatory Ducts

The ejaculatory ducts are connected to the vas deferens. These tubes transport the mixed fluid from the seminal vesicles and prostate into the urethra during ejaculation. The ejaculatory ducts are essential for proper ejaculation and reproduction.

Also known as the expulsion canals, the ejaculatory ducts are another part of the male reproductive system. They are short tubes that serve as the endpoint of the vas deferens. They also pass through the prostate and end in the urethra.

Seminal Vesicles

Seminal vesicles are the storage and maturation sites for semen. They are two small sacs located behind the bladder and above the prostate, serving to store and mature sperm. They are small, roughly the size of a pinkie.

The seminal vesicles also produce part of the fluid for ejaculation, which is crucial for the proper functioning of the male reproductive system. This fluid is rich in sugars and quite thick. It plays an important role in maintaining sperm viability and supporting the reproductive process.

Prostate

The prostate is a glandular organ located below the bladder, producing a secretion known as prostatic fluid. This fluid is essential for proper ejaculation and reproduction. The prostate also protects the connection between the urethra and the male reproductive ducts.

The prostate can cause urination issues. It is prone to various conditions, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or prostate cancer, which can lead to urination difficulties and other problems. It's important to monitor prostate health regularly and seek medical assistance when needed.

I will cover more about diseases and care for both male and female reproductive organs in future articles, so stay vigilant and keep reading. Education always pays off. In the meantime, stay healthy and have safe, regular sex.
